Audio Translation Utility

A writer can take notes in a variety of ways. Over the last few weeks, a new method of note taking has taken over the epic journey of daily writing. A personal voice recorder has joined the writing arsenal. During the two hours of daily driving to work the personal voice recorder provides the opportunity to talk aloud… unfortunately, the process does not directly translate to the production of weblog entries. This problematic scenario generates a backlog of material and a deficit of written prose. Overall, a transcription process will require both implementation and development to translate spoken word to written prose. Perhaps a systematic automated process exists to perform that function.

A copy of Nuance – Dragon NaturallySpeaking Speech Recognition Software actually sits on the bookshelf. A conflict between the software and the hybrid 32/64 bit processer powering this computer renders the software functionally useless. Maybe if the artwork on the box was more esthetically pleasing the box could adorn the wall. Unfortunately, the box with the software just sits on the bookshelf. Given the current situation, developing an alternative strategy will be necessary to transcribe the audio… perhaps; an open source software alternative exists. In any event, exploring all possible alternatives will help move the project forward.

At this point, the exploratory phase of the project will continue…
