WD Caviar GreenPower 1TB SATA Hard Drive

For the first time this year, all of the hard drives in the CODEGEN server case series S-201 are now SATA. Several years ago, the 5400 RPM IDE hard drives seemed to provide lightning fast file transfers.

After a recent catastrophic hard drive failure, I purchased the Western Digital Caviar GreenPower 500GB SATA Hard Drive. Based on cost at the time the Western Digital Caviar GreenPower 1TB SATA Hard Drive was out of the question. Most hard drives last for years. Given the right circumstances, including constant power and reasonable temperatures a hard drive is usually reliable.

The Western Digital Green Power technology actually requires less electricity to operate.
