A Time for Relentlessness

Each day, I know a certain amount has to be accomplished. Maybe an individual can sustain a degree of hyper-focus. I can remember playing some old school Nintendo games that require a certain degree of relentlessness. Life of a generally requires the ability to balance multiple factors. Relentlessness requires a degree of patience to maintain balance.

Update: Dragon Naturally Speaking Standard v9 has been producing an incredibly annoying computer error. About once a week, my normally stable installation of the Microsoft Windows operating system suffers a serious system error. (This particular installation has demonstrated the capability to engage in several weeks of continuous computational analysis.) After trying to update the legal and registered copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking Standard v9, I receive an error message detailing, “Error 13003: Version not registered with the update service.”

Fortunately, I require Microsoft Word to generate a backup file and automatically save open documents every few minutes. Computer users should make a backup copy of essential files at least once a week. Personal computer users should make a complete system backup once a month. If the files in question are highly valuable and otherwise irreplaceable, then a more rigorous backup schedule is necessary. Computer dictation software should not be the cause of catastrophic system failure. Professional software developers working within a beta release framework might occasionally face this problem. A professional software development company working with the ninth version of a program should probably have resolved all of the causes of catastrophic system failures.

At the time of the last catastrophic system failure, I was working on structuring a functional essay. The art of the functional essay requires a well-defined development philosophy. My preferred essential argument structure involves consideration of form, function, structure, and assumptions. Within an academic setting writing stream of consciousness essays is probably not an acceptable strategy. Multitudes of strategies exist for developing essays. From this day forward, I will implement a new daily requirement of essay development. Essentially, I will be personally responsible for completing a minimum of one essay a day.

A competent writer should not suffer from catastrophic system failure. I started to think after experiencing the catastrophic system failure caused by the dictation software. Sitting down to engage in the practice of daily writing might seem straightforward. I experienced what it feels like to have an entire project deleted. Some writers work at a stable productive pace. Other writers experience large swings in the rate of production. My experience with writing is essentially bimodal. For the most part, I write with a stable sustained pace occasionally experiencing periods of extreme productivity.

The catastrophic system failure caused me to think about different writing mediums. Like most people, I have a combination of paper and digital archives. In terms of exploratory thought processes, I do not think aloud. For me deep thinking is an iterative process that requires writing. I need an accessible writing archive t whole o achieve a stable form of iterative writing.
