Building a fence

Sometimes building a new fence involves learning about your neighbors. Regardless of local traditions, some neighbors are friendly and some neighbors are reclusive. Part of building a fence involves working outside for hours at a time. When you work outside for hours at a time neighbors inevitably become aware of your presence. Most people are willing to say hello, exchange a handshake, or casually discuss the weather. Building a fence can foster a strangely ironic sense of community. Taking the time to build a fence usually benefits more than one household.
Part of being a good neighbor involves making sure Peppercorn the dog does not cause trouble. A privacy fence helps keep Peppercorn the dog from getting over the fence, but a privacy fence will only restrain Peppercorn the dog from traveling under the fence. Although the neighborhood is full of newly built homes, almost everyone in the neighborhood has a dog. Joni knew that buying a house was a prerequisite to getting a dog. Right now Peppercorn the dog is about the same size as the other dogs in the neighborhood. Peppercorn the dog is still a puppy and growing bigger everyday. Soon enough, Peppercorn the dog will be one of the larger dogs in the neighborhood.
Surprisingly enough I managed to actually build a fence. Apparently, all of those insightful pearls of wisdom Boyd shared with me over the years made a difference. Shortly after a brief career working at a fast food restaurant, Boyd decided to provide me with an education in the fine arts of general contracting. Every summer involved learning about plumbing, carpentry, and electrical one project at a time. After several years of working with Boyd, I began to understand the importance of the apprenticing process. Armed with a profound respect for the power of electricity I tackle household projects from time to time.
