One of the joys of buying a house is the reality of building a fence. Depending on your neighbors, the task of building a fence can take a variety of different paths. Some neighbors simply want to hire an independent contractor to build the fence. Other neighbors want to build a fence at a leisurely pace on weekends without much help or assistance. A few neighbors want all of the parties involved to work together to build the new fence.
Three different segments of the backyard face different neighbors. It took about a week to figure out which neighbors prefer which building method. Considering the speed at which different neighbors work the backyard will probably not have a complete fence for at least another month. Not all of the neighbors have the tools necessary to build a fence. Regardless of the availability of tools, almost everyone agrees that the fence posts need to extend a minimum of two feet into the ground. I guess the real fun starts when it is time to dig the postholes.
