After spending most of the last two days driving, it was a welcome relief to spend the evening watching some playoff football and playing a couple rounds of Xbox 360 EA Sports Madden 2006 football. Maybe standalone video gaming systems will survive in the marketplace by providing television owners with nearly instant satisfaction with limited setup and configuration. Apparently, the manufactures of video gaming systems are attempting to transition from simple gaming systems to all inclusive home entertainment system packages. Integrating several previously expensive home theater components into one gaming enhanced system seems like a logical approach to capture part of the home theater market. Seeing the Xbox 360 on a very large HDTV will answer any questions about the graphics capabilities of the gaming system.
During the morning hours of the day, time for reflection and planning are a responsible strategic consideration. Arguments, ideas, and questions raise the level of daily consideration given to the pursuit of knowledge. Questions about what it takes to accomplish something meaningful and how to define a meaningful accomplishment remain unanswered. Defining a path toward a goal that involves progress and innovation requires an understanding of how to achieve both progress and innovation. Depending on differences in individual perspective, definitions of progress include a degree of personal attainment or the attainment of social improvement. Perhaps at some level the idea that benefiting society inevitably benefits everyone will satisfy the need for personal attainment. Questions about progress, innovation, and society deserve consideration, but rarely receive any resolution.
The conference begins today in Dallas, Texas. Attending the academic residency is going to require traveling downtown. Dallas, Texas, happens to have a Dallas Area Rapid Transit system or DART that happens to travel downtown. Driving downtown to park for an entire day in a parking garage would be expensive and problematic. Riding the DART downtown will resolve both the parking and navigation issues associated with parking downtown. Having never actually traveled on the DART before the journey should be informative about the current state of public transportation in Dallas, Texas. Boulder, Colorado has an extensive bussing system that runs all over the city and even extends to Denver, Colorado, but the Dallas, Texas, system has integrated bussing and light rail into the public transportation system
Maybe the almost random transition from topic to topic is a consistent if not persistent theme of this weblog or functional journal. The addition of each new paragraph should represent a transition between somewhat related subject matter. A weblog does not always follow logical writing guidelines. Given the structural constraints of time and space, ideas do not receive endless consideration within a weblog format. Certainly, the weblog format allows a writer to engage in a near endless series of discussions on a nearly infinite range of topics. Some writers actively engage in considering and reconsidering the same set of ideas everyday from slightly different perspectives.
