I’m more awake today than I have been for quite some time. It’s good to be focused.
Last Monday during the three and half hours I spent taking the Project Management Professional (PMP) test I started to ponder life, the universe, and everything. The exam took so long that my mind literally wondered.
Throughout my academic career (I’m going to include credentials) I have faced various types of adversity. Passing the PMP exam has become a real challenge. It has become a challenge I am willing to accept. I have not faced a challenge like this in about a decade.
One of my graduate advisors at the University of Kansas once set me down and told me that the journey ahead of me would be too hard for me to overcome. John was wrong — and that is ok. I did not overcome the challenges in front of me to prove him wrong. We never talk anymore. Life is about the journey. For some an honest passion fuels that journey. My passion for the search for knowledge drove me to earn a Ph.D. and to strive for continued academic excellence. I’m a lifelong learner and that is not going to change.
I’m going to have to take the PMP exam again this year.
I am still adjusting to that reality.
